Lecturer in Charity Law, University of Liverpool

I am a Lecturer in Law at the University of Liverpool. I specialise in Charity Law, particularly as it relates to donation, civil society and politics. I am also interested in motivations behind donation, including egoistic giving. I am a member of the Charity Law and Policy Unit.

I am interested in economic understandings of donation and their relationship with the case law, particularly in the context of mega-philanthropy (e.g. Bezos, Zuckerberg, Gates). More generally, I am interested in theories of motivation (e.g. warm glow, altruism) and the extent to which they are reflected in the law itself.
