Professor of Public Affairs and Law, American University School of Public Affairs

Trained as a political scientist and a lawyer, Jon Gould combines empirical research with policy advocacy to advance government practice and administration. His work focuses on justice policy and legal change, helping to make academic research relevant and accessible to policymaking. Prior to entering academe, he practiced law, worked in human rights, and served on the national staffs of two presidential campaigns. Gould is a member of the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation, serves on nonprofit and scholarly boards, was chair of the Innocence Commission for Virginia, and has served as a U.S. Supreme Court Fellow.
