Jon Powell

Jon is a Professional Engineer (Florida, Connecticut, and Puerto Rico) and a PhD student affiliated with the Center for Industrial Ecology at Yale. His research focuses on developing and utilizing environmental informatics to catalyze improvements in materials and waste management in the US, India, and China. To this end, he is developing large data sets to characterize operations of disposal facilities, quantify the industrial symbiosis potential for non-hazardous, non-municipal materials produced in the US, and utilizing this new knowledge to inform more sustainable materials management models for businesses and to bolster information used by key policymakers in decision-making at the national and regional scales.
