Jon Tunnicliffe is a river geomorphologist, working on river response to sedimentary disturbance at a range of timescales, from post-glacial change to decadal climate-induced change to catastrophic changes in the wake of earthquake-induced landslides. He has worked on a variety of New Zealand and Canadian river systems.
He received his PhD from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver), worked at NIWA in Christchurch, and held a lecturing position at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada before becoming Lecturer in River Science in the School of Environment at the University of Auckland.
