Jonathan E. Robins

Jonathan Robins studies the histories of commodities and how they've reshaped societies, industries, and our planet. His most recent book is Oil Palm: A Global History (University of North Carolina Press, 2021), a book that explores how palm oil and the tree that makes it became so important in the global economy. He has also researched and published on the history of cotton, colonialism, and food and nutrition.
