Research Fellow, Melbourne Institute: Applied Economic & Social Research, The University of Melbourne

Jordy Meekes is a research fellow (Assistant Professor) in the Melbourne Institute: Applied Economic & Social Research at the University of Melbourne (Australia) since September 2018. He is a research affiliate of the IZA Institute of Labor Economics (Bonn, Germany) and a research fellow of the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course (Australia).

Jordy obtained his PhD in economics at the Utrecht University School of Economics, Utrecht University (the Netherlands). During his PhD, Jordy was a Short-Stay Visiting Fellow at MIT Sloan School of Management (US) and he did a research project in collaboration with the temporary work and human resource consulting services company Randstad Holding.

His research is in applied microeconomics at the intersection of labour economics with spatial economics, analyzing job loss, gender gaps, the COVID-19 crisis, local labour markets and the urban wage premium.
