Joseph (Joe) Rand is a research affiliate in the Electricity Markets and Policy Group at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. Joe conducts research and analysis on renewable energy, including: renewable energy policy, cost, and market analysis; spatial data analysis; and research related to public acceptance and deployment barriers of renewable energy.

Joe was awarded a research fellowship from the Hydro Research Foundation as well as a Switzer Environmental Fellowship in 2015, and the 'Novus Ventus' award from the U.S. Department of Energy's Wind Power Program in 2015.

Joe holds a master’s degree in Energy and Resources from the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from Macalester College.
