Joseph is Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Waikato, and he has been a visiting fellow at the University of Connecticut, the University of Aberdeen, Jagiellonian University in Kraków, and The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. His main area of research interest is in the philosophy of language and metaphysics, especially the nature and value of truth, facts, and action as well as forms of controversial speech like gaslighting, fig leaves, pejoratives, microaggressions, lying, "bullshit," code words, and dogwhistles.
