Joy leads the Newcastle MIC team of interdisciplinary methodologists and PhD students and has a key role in securing further funding and new collaborations. Prior to joining the DEC in 2014, Joy was a research associate in applied mathematics and theoretical physics. She has worked on the design and analysis of many of the MIC's projects to date including the clinical and economic evaluation of rapid tests for viral infections, infections which confer antibiotic resistance and inherited conditions such as familial hypercholesterolemia. Joy is also co-Investigator on the Urgent Public Health COVID-19 National Diagnostic Research and Evaluation (CONDOR) Platform and leads the Care Pathway Analysis Workstream.
