Juan Ignacio Fernandino

Associate research scientist, Developmental Biology Laboratory, Instituto Tecnológico de Chascomús (CONICET-UNSAM), Universidad Nacional de San Martín

Dr. Fernandino has been an Independent Researcher and Group Leader at the Developmental Biology Laboratory of INTECH since January 2019. His research focuses on germ cell proliferation and its regulation in vertebrates, with a particular emphasis on gonadal development, reproduction, and changes in reproductive behavior in non-mammalian species. He also investigated environmentally induced sexual reversal, with a strong focus on the impact of climate change on fish. Additionally, he made significant contributions to the generation of edited fish for aquaculture, developing lines of Silverside and flatfish with sterility and accelerated growth for implementation in the aquaculture industry.
