Prior to joining Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) China, Juergen studied for a PhD from the University of Wollongong, Australia. His thesis stresses on Qantas’ Marginal Abatement Cost Curve in the context of late capitalism and climate change.

His research is multi-disciplinary ranging from environmental efficiency in economics to environmental management accounting, to environmental policy analysis, to critical theory in accounting. His work in environmental management accounting focuses particular on the Marginal Abatement Cost Curve as investment tool for companies to save CO2 and costs.
