Julian Zipparo has ~16 years of experience in Australian higher education, including having worked at four different universities: Macquarie University, UC, UNSW, and UTS, as well as at the Australian Research Council. His areas of expertise include research funding, engagement, policy and management, as well as research strategy development at both faculty and institutional levels.
In addition to these work experiences, he has completed research studies based in understanding the Australian university research policy and program landscape, and how they intersect with university strategic behaviour and research decision making. Firstly, through a Masters in Policy and Applied Social Research exploring early attempts to develop an approach to evaluating research quality and impact through the Australian Research Quality Framework (RQF); and most recently a PhD in Higher Education which explored institutional diversity in higher education through the research positioning of Australian universities.
