Associate Professor in Sociology, University of Plymouth

I teach in the areas of food, family, gender and health. Also, qualitative research methods, feminist approaches to research, research as a reflexive and reflective practice and Auto/Biography. I was an Independent Social Research Foundation (ISRF) Mid-Career Fellow 2016-2017

Currently continuing the Photographic electronic Narrative (PeN) project with support from undergraduate sociology students at the University of Plymouth. https://penprojectlandworks.org/

Working on the 'Finishing Time' project interviewing former graduates of a local resettlement scheme, as they readjust to life after punishment and/or supervision. Supported with funding from the University of Plymouth and the Independent Social Research Foundation (ISRF).

I am also Convenor of the BSA Food Studies Group.

I have with Anne Chappell edited The Palgrave Handbook of Auto/Biography.
