Julius A. Ellrich

Postdoctoral Scientist, Marine Ecology, St. Francis Xavier University

I am a marine ecologist examining predator-prey interactions, predator nonconsumptive effects on prey populations, trait-mediated indirect interactions and the function of foundation species in benthic communities. For my research, I am using rocky intertidal and subtidal organisms as model systems. Recently, I have been investigating benthic-pelagic coupling along the Canadian Atlantic coast, biological invasions on the Japanese Pacific coast and plastic pollution on European coasts. Currently, I am working on oyster restoration within the framework of the RESTORE project on Helgoland island, Germany.
