Associate Professor of Spanish; Faculty Coordinator of Mayerson Student Philanthropy Project classes, Northern Kentucky University

Kajsa Larson has been a Spanish professor in the Department of World Languages and Literatures at Northern Kentucky University since 2010. She earned her Ph.D. in Hispanic and Lusophone Literatures, Cultures, and Linguistics from the University of Minnesota and her area of specialty is 20th and 21st-century literature and culture of Spain, with a particular interest in oral history, women, and the Spanish Civil War. During her time at NKU, she has expanded her research and teaching interests to include community engagement, study abroad, and disability studies.

Since 2017, Dr. Larson has served as the faculty coordinator to the Mayerson Student Philanthropy Project and has taught 9 Spanish classes with this approach. She has published research in a well-known journal in her field, Hispania, as well as other community engagement journals about teaching with the Mayerson Project, and has mentored others in her department and across campus on this topic.
