Senior Lecturer in Forensic Psychology, Cardiff Metropolitan University

Dr De Claire is a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Psychology at Cardiff Metropolitan University. She is a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Forensic Psychologist and Chartered Forensic Psychologist with the British Psychological Society. She is a full member of the BPS Division of Forensic Psychology (DFP), Associate Fellow and Chartered Scientist of the BPS and an EMDR therapist. Dr De Claire has a part time role with HM Prison and Probation Service leading on specific projects related to prisoner management and welfare. Dr De Claire's background is as a practitioner forensic psychologist, with particular expertise in assessment and intervention of high risk men who have engaged in violent and sexual offending, in custody and the community. She also has considerable experience of consultancy within forensic settings on a range of issues which affect prisoners their children and families and prison staff. She also has experience of and continues to advise during critical incidents in prisons. Her research interests include: desistance and family relationships, the role of attachment in offending, the effect of the treatment of trauma on re-offending behaviour.

Dr De Claire is a member of the Wales DFP committee and the BPS Wales Policy Committee.
