Karena Menzie-Ballantyne

Dr Karena Menzie-Ballantyne is a lecturer in education at CQUniversity's Bundaberg campus. Karena has over a decade of experience developing courses, teaching and researching in citizenship education, particularly active and global citizenship, at school and tertiary levels at ACU, QUT, UQ UTas and CQUniversity. She recently completed a doctorate examining the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes reported by adolescents during their experience of an active citizenship program and comparing these reports to the attributes of global competence.

Prior to joining CQUniversity, Karena was Centre Coordinator for the Global Learning Centre assisting in-service and pre-service teachers to embed global perspectives in their curriculum and pedagogy through the DFAT-funded Global Education Project.
