Dr. Karin G. Coifman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences, Kent State University, Kent, OH. Dr. Coifman attended Yale University completing an undergraduate degree in English in 1996. From there, she worked for several years as the director of a community health and education agency in New York, NY. In 2001, she commenced graduate studies at Columbia University, completing a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2008, with a specialization in Child Clinical Psychology. Dr. Coifman maintains an active research program focused on examining the link between basic emotion processing and psychological health. She publishes regularly in scientific and scholarly journals and her work has been featured in various media outlets (e.g., MSNBC). Dr. Coifman lives in Akron, OH with her husband Micah, her daughters and their dogs.
