Senior Lecturer in Contemporary History, Monash University

I am a historian of contemporary Australian cultural and political history, with particular expertise in the areas of postwar social movements, gender and family history, and rural history. I have published influential studies of representations of rural Australia in early twentieth-century political culture and the history of adoption in Australia. My more recent published work has explored the intersecting histories of higher education and social movements, with a focus on student activism in the 1960s and beyond. I am currently researching fatherhood in Australian history as part of the ARC-funded Discovery project Fatherhood: an Australian History, 1919-2019.
