Professor of Social Work and Education, Loyola University Chicago

I research and teach at the intersection of schooling, American society. and education stakeholders. In particular, I focus on how students and educators carry out education policy and practice, and how our social contexts shape that process. My current research involves student wellness policy and practice, equity-oriented urban education policy, conflict over education and education policy, and the social and professional positioning of teachers and school social workers. My most recent book is A Contest Without Winners: How Students Experience Competitive School Choice.
