PhD Candidate in Materials Science, Penn State

Hi, I'm Katie! I am a third year Ph.D Candidate at The Pennsylvania State University studying Materials Science and Engineering. My research interests include materials theory and physics-based modeling of condensed matter, specifically for the investigation of disordered materials such as glass-forming systems. Aside from research, my passions include rowing - I was a student athlete on the Penn State Crew Team (We are!), - woodworking, volunteering, and professional development. My career goals and professional aspirations are twofold: 1) to find environments that maximize my passion for learning and 2) to be in a position where I can meaningfully contribute to my community. I have found this in research, which, for me, has been an immersive learning experience at a supersaturated rate, with the potential for discovery. With research I am at the frontier of what is known and what is yet to be uncovered. I welcome this scientific journey that is graduate school!
