Kathy Ann Townsend

Senior Lecturer in Animal Ecology, University of the Sunshine Coast

I am marine scientist with a particular interest in marine conservation and human impacts on the marine environment. My field-based research programs draws strength from its multidisciplinary approach and focuses on global scale issues such as the impacts of marine debris and marine pollution. My research programs contribute to a greater understanding of the conservation status of marine species identified by the IUCN Red List for threatened species, such as manta rays and sea turtles.
