Katrin Glatzel, PhD

Senior scientist, University of Bonn

Dr. Katrin Glatzel is a Senior Scientist and Project Leader at the Center for Development Research (ZEF) at the University of Bonn, where she is currently implementing a new four-year project on agrifood systems-transformative research and policy in ten African countries and India.

She joined ZEF in November 2023 from AKADEMIYA2063 where she was Director of Policy Innovation and based in Dakar, Senegal. As Director of Policy Innovation, she was responsible for the institution’s activities in support of facilitating the identification, replication, and scaling up of successful policies and strategies to accelerate progress toward inclusive growth and food systems transformation in Africa. She was also the Program Head of the Malabo Montpellier Panel.

Before this, she was a Research Fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in Dakar, Senegal; and of Policy and Research Officer at Imperial College London, where she continues to be a Visiting Researcher. She is also an Extraordinary Professor at the University of Pretoria's Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension and Rural Development.

She holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Research from Imperial College London and the MSc in Public Management and Governance from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
