Katy Mullin lectures in English Literature at the University of Leeds. Her first book, _James Joyce, Sexuality and Social Purity_ (2003) explored Joyce's lifelong battle with censorship, and her second, _Working Girls: Fiction, Sexuality, and Modernity_, offered a cultural and literary history of typists, telegraphists, shopgirls and barmaids. She is currently completing a third book, _Provocateurs: Censorship, Backlash, and the Invention of Modernism_.
