I am a lecturer in the School of Sociology & Social Policy at the University of Leeds. Prior to coming to Leeds, I worked as a researcher at the UNESCO Centre, University of Ulster, and at the University of Sheffield. My most recent research has focused on the topic of community resilience, as well as work on the role of local communities in Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects. I am interested in Urban Sociology, in particular the ways that postindustrial cities deal with the social, cultural and physical legacies of their industrial past, and how they engage with and plan for the future. Currently I teach on a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and am programme director for the MA in Social & Public Policy at Leeds.
