Professor of Audience Research, Edith Cowan University

Katya Johanson is Professor of Audience Research i in the School of Communication and Creative Arts at Deakin University. After completing a PhD in Australian History and Political Science at the University of Melbourne in 2001, Katya has continued to research issues of political identity and the arts, including national and neighbourhood identity, the cultural identity of children and teenagers, and issues of cultural diversity.

With an interest in collaborative research, Katya he has received funding from Federal, state and local government for projects that examine cultural diplomacy strategies, local government cultural strategies in the context of gentrification, and the leisure reading behaviour of Australian teenagers in the context of increasing digitisation of entertainment and reading platforms.
