Keis Ohtsuka

Keis is a registered psychologist with expertise in gambling cognition and an Adjunct Fellow of the Institute for Health and Sport, Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia. His research interests include cultural beliefs and superstition in luck and winning, culture and gambling, erroneous gambling-related beliefs and risk-taking decision, provision of harm minimisation directed to culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, and capacity building for health and wellbeing.

Keis was the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Mental Health and Addiction (e-ISSN 1557-1882; Print ISSN 1557-1874) from 2020 to 2021; and is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Journal of Gambling Issues and Public Health (ISSN 2195-3007)(https://ajgiph.spingeropen.com). He is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and a member of the National Association for Gambling Studies (Australia) where he served as the Secretary from (2008 to 2012) and the Victoria State Representative (2018 to 2022).

Keis has appeared in media on a variety of topics such as luck, superstition, erroneous gambling-related beliefs and gambling in culturally and linguistically diverse communities over 60 times. Keis has published 34 refereed articles and book chapters on various issues (see Publications and research output on VU Researcher Profile -> Key Publications or ORCID ).

Keis supervised five PhD, one Doctor of Business Administration, two Master of Applied Psychology, and 41 honours/graduate diploma students to completion. He is currently supervising one PhD by Research (psychology) student.
