Director - Centre for Boreal Research, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology

I am a Professional Biologist (P.Biol) working in Alberta with a background in biology (B.Sc.), forestry (M.Sc.), and a Ph.D. in ecology. I have over 17 years of experience working mostly in the boreal forest and been a consultant in Alberta for 12 years as a Principal Ecologist, General Manager and practice area lead. In these roles, I was responsible for all aspects of project management and supervision as well as business operations including client relations, proposal development and human resources. Prior to becoming a consultant, my research focused on disturbance and recovery of boreal forest ecosystems in Manitoba. In Alberta my work has focused primarily on environmental impact assessments, forest reclamation, wetland restoration and construction, peatland restoration, and GHG quantification and project development. In my current role as Director of the NAIT Centre for Boreal Research I lead business development and applied research project development for a staff of 16 individuals.
