Kim Allen is a University Academic Fellow in Sociology at the University of Leeds. An interdisciplinary feminist researcher, she has published in areas including: youth transitions; celebrity culture; media representations of class and gender; and inequality and diversity in the creative and cultural industries. Kim recently co-led the ESRC-funded project ‘Celebrity Culture and Young People’s Classed and Gendered Aspirations’. A book based on the project, entitled Celebrity, Aspiration and Contemporary Youth: Education and Inequality in an Era of Austerity, will be published by Bloomsbury Press in early 2018.
