Research Fellow, Psychology, University of Birmingham

Dr. Kirstin Wagner is a research fellow in psychology at the University of Birmingham working for the Rights4Time research network in order to bring the hidden legacies of conflict into humanitarian protection, and human rights policy and practice.

She conducts research on how women and children are impacted by violence and humanitarian crises, as well as on linking crimes committed by serial sexual offenders. She obtained a Ph.D. in History / International Development at the University of Birmingham in 2022. Her doctoral research focused on sexual crimes and child abandonment by United Nations peacekeepers in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Haiti.

Dr. Wagner is interested in interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral research to improve knowledge of protection challenges in complex environments and is passionate about health-related topics with links to social justice and policymaking.
