Professor of Development Economics & Policy, University of Manchester

I am Professor of Development Economics in IDPM, the University of Manchester, UK, and Professorial Fellow of the Brooks World Poverty Institute.

Prior to joining the University of Manchester, I was a member of faculty in the University of East Anglia in the UK, Massey University in New Zealand, the Australian National University, and the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research in India.

My principal areas of research are economic growth, macroeconomics, international trade, and the analysis of poverty and social exclusion.

While the principal region of my research is India, I also work on East Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.
