Lachlan Thompson has been at RMIT since 1989, and since 2002 has held the position of Associate Professor of Aerospace Design.

His research and consulting interests include Microgravity Experiment Design, Educational Experiment Design, Space Vehicle Design, Space Systems, DesignFlight Vehicle Design, Sports Equipment Design and Flight Test Engineering, and he is a fellow of Engineers Australia and a member of the NSSA.
