Dr Lauren Ayton is a clinician-scientist, who is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Eye Research Australia, and the Department of Surgery at the University of Melbourne. Her research is in the field of ophthalmology, and she is particularly interested in developing methods for measuring changes in vision after new treatments, like the bionic eye. Lauren is currently the Bionic Eye Clinical Research Team Leader, and was a principal investigator in the first-in-human clinical trial of the Australian bionic eye.

Lauren is also passionate about science communication, and is a regular host on 3RRR radio's Einstein A Go Go program (Sundays 11am-12pm, 102.7FM) and on other radio and television programs.
