Senior Research Fellow, Centre for Housing, Urban and Regional Planning, University of Adelaide

Dr Laurence Lester (Senior Research Fellow, CHURP, University of Adelaide) has worked part-time for over a decade at CHURP. Prior to this he was a research fellow in the National Institute of Labour Studies (Flinders University); prior to that he spent several years with the South Australian Department of Treasury and Finance. Laurence has considerable expertise in macro and micro-economics, econometric modelling and in statistical modelling and analysis with cross-sectional or longitudinal data. He has particular expertise with census data and the longitudinal dataset, HILDA. Laurence has been the data expert on many projects relating to housing including ‘Measuring housing affordability stress: can deprivation capture risk made real?’ Urban Policy and Research; and ‘Modelling housing need in Australia to 2025’ Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute Final Report Series.
