Associate Professor in Remote Sensing, University of Wollongong

Laurie Chisholm is an Associate Professor in Remote Sensing in the School of Earth, Atmospheric and Life Sciences at the University of Wollongong. Her research interests focus on the use of hyperspectral remote sensing to evaluate the fine‐grained dynamics of plant physiological responses to stress agents, the application of satellite image‐based metrics to evaluate the impact of disturbance events on ecosystem dynamics, and the application of integrative techniques to assess the environmental management of landscapes.

In conjunction with the Australian remote and proximal remote sensing community, and in close collaboration with CSIRO and the University of Zurich, Laurie led the development of a database to support the spectroscopy data life cycle. This endeavour culminated in the National Spectral Database (NSD) now hosted by Geoscience Australia.

Laurie is adept in STEMM curriculum transformation, with demonstrated experience in change management while fostering innovation within the research-teaching nexus. She serves on multiple University level committees dedicated to initiatives to enhance the student experience.
