Lea M D Delbridge

Professor of Physiology, The University of Melbourne

Prof Lea Delbridge leads the Cardiac Phenomics research group in the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Melbourne. The team research goals are to understand what and how things go wrong in heart diseases. Especially in diabetes and other metabolic conditions. A key focus for us is finding out how disease mechanisms are different in women and men. We do ‘discovery’ lab research and work closely with cardiology collaborators.
Lea has held research training positions at Dalhousie University in Halifax Canada, and at Loyola University in Chicago USA. She was awarded fellowships from the American Heart Association and the National Heart Foundation of Australia. At the University of Melbourne, along with her research, she manages a busy teaching portfolio and is a member of the Academic Board leadership team.
