My research seeks to improve our understanding of how galaxies form and evolve through time. Galaxies, like the Milky Way, are gravitationally-bound structures that host astronomical objects like black holes, stars, and planets. They are also pretty much the only things in space astronomers can actually see with their telescopes. They therefore provide an important way to understand the fundamental characteristics of the universe we live in.
