Leticia J. Marteleto (Ph.D., Sociology, University of Michigan) is Professor of Sociology and a Faculty Research Associate of the Population Research Center at The University of Texas at Austin. She is also a research affiliate at the Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies at the same university. Recent research has appeared in Demography, Demographic Research, Population and Development Review, Plos-One, Social Forces and Studies in Family Planning. In her newest research, funded through an NICHD R01,she focuses on inequalities in women’s reproductive behaviors and outcomes related to the novel infectious disease outbreaks of Zika and Covid-19 in Brazil, an epicenter of both crises.
