Research Officer, School of Education, La Trobe University

Dr Lindy Baxter is currently a co-researcher in a project that evaluates the efficacy of the Reflective Circle Education Model in low-SES schools, a cross-discipline project between the School of Education and La Trobe Rural Health School. The Reflective Circle Education Model is based on critically reflective practice and is designed to support teachers’ complex and demanding work, particularly when working with students who have traumatic backgrounds and those who present with challenging behaviour.

Lindy’s PhD research was a mixed methods investigation of the school experience of urban Indigenous students and ways to improve their educational experience, attendance, and outcomes. Since completing her PhD, Lindy has conducted an evaluation of the 2019 Project Ready program, and been involved in the Healing the Past by Nurturing the Future research, the evaluation of the City of Greater Bendigo’s Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Plan 2016-2019, and an ARC funded project evaluating students’ learning and wellbeing in low SES schools.
