Senior Lecturer in Marketing, University of Huddersfield

Lisa joined the Business School in 2004 and is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions Tutor and Schools Liaison for the Marketing Undergraduate programmes. Previously she was a Lecturer in Marketing and Business Studies at Bradford College of Higher Education from 2001.

Prior to this Lisa's career focussed in retail and marketing working for a variety of American and UK Brands in both the UK and The Middle East, and has marketing experience in both profit and non-profit centred organisations. In 1997 she was employed as a retail co-ordinator in Kuwait, responsible for Franchise Quality levels, merchandising, promotion, store selection and employee brand training. From there Lisa progressed to working within the Arabic state of Bahrain overseeing major brand openings within Bahrain’s first western brand orientated Mall where she was responsible for launch marketing, organisation and brand induction.

Lisa returned to the UK and in 1999 took up a marketing and outreach post in an environmental charity. The charity was created through EU funding to focus upon CO2 reduction and Consumer Energy Efficiency within a local government authority. The Charity’s initial remit was based upon targets agreed by the Kyoto Protocol, since renamed 'The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’ (the UNFCCC) to contain emissions of Anthropogenic GHG’s (Human pollution via Green House Gases). Lisa’s role involved creating awareness of the charity within the local community via media channels, online and offline marketing communications channels and establishing a referral network with other organisations within the Local Government Authority. The initial referral focussed upon members of the community who were deemed as ‘fuel poor’ and those who spent more than 10% of their income on heating their homes. Lisa created referral networks and awareness events and advice surgeries at ‘Help the Aged’ and ‘Sure Start’ centres across the LGA, before leaving the post and commencing her career in teaching.
