Lisa Garbe is a postdoctoral research fellow at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center and holds a PhD in international affairs and political economy from the University of St Gallen. In her research, she examines the ownership of internet service providers across Africa and consequences for the availability of internet access and hence democratisation. Her research interests include authoritarianism, comparative politics, and the political dimension of information and communication technologies. She is interested in combining quantitative statistical and qualitative methods and spent several months in East Africa for field research.
