Liz Sonenberg is a Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University Melbourne and also a Professor of Information Systems in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. She has previously held positions as Dean of the Faculty of Science and Head of the Department of Information Systems in the Faculty of Science. The integrating theme of her research is the conceptualisation and construction of intelligent systems, with a focus on the human-machine interface and consequent implications for human decision-making
