Senior Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics, Sheffield Hallam University

As a senior lecturer, I develop and deliver teaching on a number of undergraduate and postgraduate nutrition modules, and I am the course leader which allows me to build a course community and really get to know the students. My main roles include lecturing in areas such as nutrition, nutritional health, disease states and physiology. I also support students who are completing their final year undergraduate projects and MSc dissertations.

I am a qualified state-registered dietitian and have previously worked in the NHS as a dietitian in both community and acute settings; more recently as a senior weight management dietitian, supporting patients with morbid obesity. In my role as a specialist weight management dietitian, I worked in a patient-centred way to support patients with their complex co-morbidities. I bring this experience into my teaching and research.

I have a particular research interest in obesity management, diabetes, and the impact of diet during pregnancy. Latterly, I am interested in food poverty research.
