I am a Research Associate in the School of Global Studies at the University of Sussex working on the ESRC-funded project, 'Rising Powers and the low carbon transition in Southern Africa'. I am also a visiting fellow at the University of Cape Town's Energy Research Centre.
I received my PhD from the University of East Anglia on 'the political economy of South Africa's electricity sector in 2012'. Prior to entering academia, I worked in policy, campaigns and research with a number of non-governmental organisations.
My areas of expertise include: the political economy of energy; renewable energy development in low and middle income countries; climate change governance and finance; and human rights and natural resources.
