Lucy Brown

Professor Lucy Brown is Head of Division of Film at London South Bank University and an award winning educator and filmmaker. Lucy began her career at the British Film Institute, before moving into production and then academia. She has filmed around the world, working on an eclectic range of BAFTA and RTS award winning programmes for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Nickelodeon and Disney. She regularly sits on jury panels and has presented at international conferences, including SXSW, Fest New Films/New Directors and the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) with the British Council. Lucy is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and an Executive Board member for the National Association for Higher Education in the Moving Image (NAHEMI). She is the winner of a number of Excellence in Education Awards and is co-author of ‘The TV Studio Production Handbook’, published by Bloomsbury. She is Founder of Women In Screen and chair of the events series Trailblazing Women On and Off Screen, dedicated to bringing the screen industries and academia together to advocate for diversity, inclusion and gender equality. Her latest documentary on the Hollywood film 'Thelma & Louise' has screened at cinemas around the world.
