Associate Lecturer, University of St Andrews

Lucy is an Associate Lecturer in the School of Management at the University of St Andrews and a Visiting Researcher at the Pentland Centre for Sustainable Business at the University of Lancaster.

Her primary research focus is in critically analysing the governance of waste within circular economy with a particular emphasis on understanding how practices of knowing shape sustainable solutions. She is currently researching the role of SMEs in Scottish waste policy and investigating how the Circular Economy is framed within responsible management education.

Her previous research includes investigating reuse practices within higher education institutes; business and human rights issues in Scotland; and sustainability competencies required for leadership in Higher Education.
She has a PhD in Management from the University of St Andrews entitled “A Resourceful Aspiration: Understanding the Governmentality of Zero Waste in Scotland”.

Before returning to academia, Lucy trained as a solicitor. She also has experience working for and with community and corporate environmental organisations.
