Senior Lecturer; MD, Victoria University

Dr Maja Husaric is a trained Medical Doctor who works as an academic at Victoria University.
Dr Husaric has an extensive background in on-field medical experience as a GP and in ICU, as an anesthetist during the Balkan conflict in a war zone.
She moved to academia in 2000 and has been focused on clinical medical education for the health professionals at Unitec, New Zealand, and Victoria University Australia.
As an educator, Dr Husaric branched out into educational research in order to capture the experiences and the impact of the innovative and creative educational block model Victoria University has embraced.

For last decade, Dr Husaric has been focusing research on photobiomodulation therapy as one of the potential non-invasive, non-pharmacological avenues of disease treatment that will be required to sustain the increasing burden of inflammatory diseases as the population ages. Since 2017 she has been co-leading the Victoria University photobiomodulation research team, pioneering a novel phototherapeutic and photobiology research laboratory.
