Associate Professor, Midwifery Education Program, Toronto Metropolitan University

Manavi is a graduate of Ryerson University’s Midwifery Education Program (1999). She earned her Masters of Health Sciences in Bioethics from the University of Toronto, and is Associate Professor at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson). Manavi also maintains active clinical practice, she co-founded West End Midwives and is the Midwifery Clinical Director for the Non-Insured Walk-In Clinic, AAMCHC.

Manavi's clinical practice, research and activism has focused on marginalized populations, in particular newly arrived refugees and those who are uninsured with precarious immigration status. Manavi's research was instrumental in expanded ministry funding for uninsured clients in midwifery care.

Additional interests include equity and inclusion in education, Vaginal Birth After Cesarean Section, interprofessional collaboration, midwives as abortion care providers, full scope midwifery
