The research in my lab seeks to understand how different nutrients, especially vitamin D regulate immune function. Other nutrients studied include selenium, vitamin A and edible mushrooms. I am an expert in vitamin D research and more specifically I am an expert in the effects of vitamin D on the immune system and gut microbes. My research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health for the last 20+ years.
