María Celeste Wagner

Ph.D. Candidate in Communication, University of Pennsylvania

María Celeste Wagner (MA, University of Pennsylvania) is a Ph.D. candidate at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania and a doctoral fellow at the Center for Advanced Research in Global Communication at the same institution.

From a mixed-methods and comparative approach, Wagner studies the role of the media in the formation of attitudes around issues of identity. With a focus on both news and entertainment, she also studies how individuals emotionally relate to, and interpret, the media and develop media practices.

She received her bachelor's degree in Communication from Universidad de San Andrés in Argentina, her home country. Prior to attending Annenberg, she was Research Coordinator at MESO, the Center for the Study of Media and Society in Argentina, where she is now a Research Affiliate.
